COUNTER OBJECTIVITY OF SOUND vs/ NOISE:
As R. Murray Schafer has previously engaged with his Five Villages: Soundscape five year project to his Vancouver Soundscape locational mapping of certain isolation of sounds that interplay the common grounds of spatial divergence within a community, this project is an investigation to extract sounds versus noise from specific cosmopolitan locations, [ie: Marrakech, Morocco; Shanghai, China; Manhattan, New York; Bangkok, Thailand; and now Athens, Greece], and isolation the "Time Square" or the "People's Square" for each location. The process isolates the sounds and maps the directional sense of each sound versus the environment through Visual Video Studies taped on location, and presentation of sound effects and audio recordings made through the cityscape as an urban intrinsic investigation on the incentives of sound, produced through human and electronic intervention.
Please DO enjoy the exhibition through interaction.
Please DO listen to the individual sounds produced by each city.
Please DO take the headphones off the display set and use them.
Please DO NOT dismantle the display sets or headphones from it's original location.
Thank you for your cooperation, and realising the minuscule dissimilarities of each City, that, in contrary, causes the larger similarities within the Un-Built World of Cities.
